CSEM is a Swiss private, non-profit research and technology organization with the mission to invent and develop world-class innovative technologies and transfer them in priority to the Swiss industry. Among others, CSEM has a track record of more than 20 years in the development of wearables (Digital Health) characterized by resource limitation, miniaturization, precision, reliability, comfort, production costs, and medical quality (ISO 13485).

To the Innovathon, CSEM brings a challenge related to how clothing can be reinvented to actively control the microclimate around the body so that thermal comfort is electronically optimized based on physiological and environmental signals (the function is today manually performed by clothing adjustment according to discomfort feelings when, e.g., somebody moves from one environment to another or starts/stops a physical activity, such as indoors to outdoors or running/resting).
